Trail Maroc has opened registration for its 2026 Trail Desert Agafay weekend near Marrakech and added a new intermediate race to the programme: the 15 km Nomade Trail.

The main race weekend takes place November 21 and 22 in the Agafay desert, a short drive outside Marrakech. The programme combines trail running, mountain biking and a two-day bike-and-run challenge.

The new Nomade Trail starts at 10:00

The new Nomade Trail is scheduled for Sunday, November 22. Trail Maroc lists it at 15 km with approximately 180 metres of elevation gain and a 10:00 start.

It fills the gap between the shorter 11 km Trail du Bédouin and the 23 km Trail White Camel, giving runners who want more than the introductory route an option that does not require committing to the longer distances.

Four trail distances and two mountain bike options

The Sunday trail programme includes the 11 km Trail du Bédouin with 150 metres of elevation gain, the new 15 km Nomade Trail, the 23 km Trail White Camel with 245 metres of elevation gain, and the 42 km Marathon Desert with 631 metres of elevation gain.

Mountain biking takes over on Saturday, November 21. The Bike Oxygène route covers 30 km with 428 metres of climbing, while Fly Me To The Moon stretches to 60 km with 898 metres of elevation gain.

For participants who want both disciplines, the Challenge Agafay combines the weekend into an 83 km two-day format with 1,143 metres of elevation gain.

What the course is actually like

The organizer describes the routes as a mix of fast desert tracks, rocky sections, dry riverbeds, Amazigh villages and open views toward the Atlas Mountains. Agafay is a stone desert rather than a Saharan sand-dune landscape, so runners should expect exposed, mineral terrain.

Registration is already open

Trail Maroc is already accepting registrations through its official website. The organizer lists the principal competition dates as November 21 and 22, with race activity split between bike events on Saturday and trail events on Sunday.

Visitors coming from central Marrakech should treat the event as an out-of-city excursion rather than something reachable on foot or by a normal city taxi routine. Transport and return arrangements should be planned before race day, especially for early starts.

Why this is worth knowing now

The addition of the 15 km Nomade Trail makes the event relevant to a broader group of recreational runners who may have found 11 km too short and 23 km more demanding than they wanted during a holiday.

For active travelers visiting Marrakech in late November, this is one of the relatively rare opportunities to combine a city stay with a formally organized race in the Agafay landscape.
