Marrakech Menara Airport’s Runway Upgrade Is Complete as Taxiway Works Continue
Marrakech Menara Airport is in the middle of a substantial airfield upgrade, with runway strengthening already completed and additional taxiway work continuing through October 2026, according to Morocco’s official aeronautical information service.

What has already been completed
The April 2026 AIP supplement from Morocco’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation says the runway reprofiling and strengthening work is 100% complete. The same official notice records changes to aircraft-stand markings and the temporary use of Taxiway Q while work continues on the parallel taxiway system.
What is still changing
The remaining programme includes duplication of Taxiway P between C2 and C4, strengthening Taxiways C5 and Q, new links designated Q3 to Q6, and construction of a new rapid-exit Taxiway U1 serving runway threshold 10. Taxiway C3 has been permanently closed, while Taxiways D1 to D6 are due to enter service after the relevant works are completed and formally activated by NOTAM.
What travelers should know
These are primarily airside infrastructure works rather than a new passenger attraction or terminal service, so travelers should not assume that they imply a specific change to check-in or arrival procedures. Their practical importance is longer term: the works are designed to improve how aircraft move around one of Morocco’s busiest tourism gateways.
The current AIP supplement is effective through October 28, 2026. Operational details can change through NOTAMs, so passengers should continue to follow their airline and official airport information for flight-specific instructions.
