Direct flights between Bucharest and Marrakech have returned, restoring a nonstop link between Romania's capital and Morocco's leading tourism city just as the autumn travel season begins.

Wizz Air resumed the route on Sunday, September 20, after a summer pause. The service is initially operating twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, connecting Bucharest Henri Coandă Airport with Marrakech Menara Airport without a change of aircraft.

The return matters beyond the timetable itself. For travelers in Romania, it removes the need to connect through another European hub for a Marrakech trip, while for the city it adds another direct gateway from Central and Eastern Europe ahead of the busier winter period.

Published timetable data identifies the route as W43271 from Bucharest to Marrakech and W43272 on the return sector. Travelers should use the airline's live timetable for exact departure and arrival times, which can change with seasonal scheduling.

Wizz Air Malta is operating the route with an Airbus A321neo. The aircraft is configured for 239 passengers, giving the connection meaningful capacity even before the airline increases the frequency later in the autumn.

The current Thursday and Sunday pattern is scheduled to continue through October 22. From late October, the timetable is expected to shift as the airline moves into its winter schedule, with three weekly services reported from October 26.

That change is particularly relevant for travelers planning a long weekend. A higher weekly frequency can make Marrakech easier to combine with shorter stays, rather than forcing visitors to shape an entire trip around two fixed flight days.

The Bucharest route is a restoration rather than an entirely new connection. Wizz Air first introduced direct service between the two cities in October 2024 and operated the route again during spring 2026 before suspending it for the summer.

Its September return fits a familiar Marrakech travel pattern. Demand from European cities tends to become more attractive as temperatures moderate in Morocco and travelers begin looking for autumn and winter breaks with relatively short flight times from the continent.

For visitors arriving at Marrakech Menara, the airport places them close to the main tourist districts. The Medina, Jemaa el Fna, the souks, Gueliz and Hivernage are all reached from the same airport, making a direct international arrival comparatively straightforward once passengers leave the terminal.

The restored Bucharest service also sits within a wider expansion of direct access to Marrakech from Romania. Wizz Air has separately scheduled Marrakech service from Cluj Napoca, strengthening the city's reach beyond the Romanian capital and giving travelers in Transylvania another route to Morocco.

For Marrakech, additional nonstop connections are commercially significant because they reduce one of the practical barriers to a city break. A traveler who can leave home on a direct flight is more likely to consider a shorter stay, and shorter stays often concentrate activity around the Medina, the souks, major monuments, restaurants and organized experiences.

Travelers should still check the airline's live timetable before booking accommodation or fixed activities. Airline schedules can change by season, and departure times and operating days may be adjusted after tickets first go on sale.

The immediate change, however, is clear: Bucharest and Marrakech are directly connected again. With the route back in operation from September 20 and additional frequency expected as the winter schedule begins, Romanian travelers have regained a simpler way to reach the Red City during one of its most important travel periods.
