United Extends Newark–Marrakech Nonstop Flights Through May 2027

United has extended the filed schedule for its nonstop Newark–Marrakech route through May 25, 2027, carrying the only direct link in its network between the New York area and Marrakech deeper into spring. The change is useful for travelers considering April or May visits, but it is a schedule filing rather than an unconditional promise that every listed flight will operate exactly as shown.

AeroRoutes reported the update on October 13, 2026 after United lengthened the route’s previously filed end date from March 26, 2027 for the U.S. departure. For the added March 27–May 25 period, the airline is scheduled to fly three times each way per week with a Boeing 767-400ER. United’s own booking pages continue to market New York/Newark–Marrakech itineraries, while United Vacations describes the service as direct.

What changed in the spring 2027 schedule

The practical change is an extension of roughly eight and a half weeks, not a new route launch and not daily service. Eastbound flight UA628 is filed to leave Newark Liberty International Airport at 20:25 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving at Marrakech Menara Airport at 08:00 the following morning. Those arrival days are therefore Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Westbound flight UA627 is filed to leave Marrakech at 10:50 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and reach Newark at 15:30 the same day. All times are local. The pattern creates three weekly rotations, with the overnight sector on the journey to Morocco and a daytime departure for the return to the United States.

The Boeing 767-400ER is the aircraft listed for this added period. That detail matters for readers comparing cabins or seat maps, but aircraft assignments are operational plans and can change before departure. Travelers should rely on the aircraft and seat map displayed for their specific flight when selecting seats or paying for a cabin.

What the extension means for a Marrakech trip

The later end date opens the nonstop option to more of the spring travel season. Under the previous filing, a traveler planning after March 26 would have needed to wait for a further schedule update or build an itinerary with a connection. The new filing reaches across April, the Easter travel period and most of May, when Marrakech is often planned as part of a wider Morocco trip.

Because the service operates only three days each way, a trip built around the nonstop still needs date discipline. Departures from Newark are filed for Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings; departures from Marrakech are filed for Wednesday, Friday and Sunday mornings. A traveler whose preferred dates fall between those operating days may need to shift the trip or compare a connecting itinerary.

Newark is a major United hub, so passengers starting elsewhere in the United States may be able to combine a domestic connection with UA628 on one itinerary. That does not make every same-day connection practical: the selling itinerary, minimum connection time, terminal details and baggage handling shown by the airline for the exact ticket remain the controlling information.

What the filing does not confirm

The October update does not establish year-round service. It confirms a planned schedule only through May 25, 2027; it does not say what happens after that date. An absence of later flights in this filing should not be treated as a cancellation, but neither should travelers assume the route continues beyond May without a new schedule or bookable inventory.

It also does not freeze the timetable. Airlines routinely adjust departure times, aircraft and individual operating dates as schedules are refined. AeroRoutes itself notes that planned operations are periodically modified. The safest wording today is that United has filed and is marketing the route through May 25, not that every flight through that date is guaranteed.

No fixed fare is part of this announcement. United’s route pages display date-dependent offers, and the price visible to one traveler may not be available for another departure, cabin or point of sale. A promotional fare should be checked through the final booking page together with baggage, change and refund conditions that apply to that ticket.

How to use the new dates

Start with the exact operating days rather than a broad monthly search. For a nonstop outbound, check Newark departures on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday; for a nonstop return, check Marrakech departures on Wednesday, Friday or Sunday. Confirm that the result is UA628 or UA627 and says nonstop before comparing it with one-stop alternatives.

Then check the full itinerary again before paying. Verify the departure airport as Newark Liberty, not another New York-area airport; confirm the Marrakech arrival airport as RAK; and review the local departure date on the return. The overnight eastbound flight advances the calendar by one day, which matters for hotel reservations, transfers and any timed activity booked on arrival morning.

The route’s wider context

This is a continuation of a relatively young transatlantic route. United said in its 2024 results that it became the first U.S. airline to serve Marrakech when the service launched that year. Extending the schedule into late May gives the route a longer spring footprint, but the significance for travelers is straightforward: more weeks in which a U.S.–Marrakech journey can be planned without a European connection.

Sources and booking checks

The added dates, frequencies, flight numbers, times and aircraft come from the AeroRoutes schedule report published October 13, 2026. United’s New York/Newark–Marrakech booking page is the place to check current inventory, while United Vacations’ destinations page describes the route as direct. Historical context comes from United’s April 2024 investor filing. Recheck the operating date and timetable before making non-refundable arrangements.
