Marrakech-Menara Airport Handles 8.11 Million Passengers Through September
Marrakech-Menara Airport handled 8,113,680 passengers in the first nine months of 2026, nearly 730,000 more than during the same period a year earlier. The increase of 9.88% is recorded in statistics attributed to Morocco's National Airports Office (ONDA) and published in its latest air-traffic reporting. The figures put the city second only to Casablanca among Morocco's airports by passenger volume.
The September figures offer a more recent measure of that growth. The airport received 877,833 passengers during the month, compared with 815,468 in September 2025, an increase of 7.65%. Of the latest total, 837,349 travellers used international services and 40,484 were on domestic flights.
The growth was not confined to international travel. Domestic passenger numbers in September rose by 19.69% from the previous year, although they remained a much smaller share of the airport's traffic. Across January to September, domestic journeys were reported at 367,654, with international passengers accounting for roughly 7.75 million.
Marrakech's busiest international route in September was Paris-Orly, with 61,746 travellers. Paris Charles de Gaulle followed with 53,778, and London Gatwick with 37,480. The pattern helps explain the city's close connection to European leisure markets, but it does not by itself establish how many passengers were tourists, residents or business travellers.
Nationally, the September ONDA figures reported by Morocco's state news agency placed combined airport traffic at 29.33 million passengers through the first nine months, up 8.74%. Marrakech's 8.11 million figure represents a substantial share of that total. Separate Marrakech-specific figures give the month-by-month and route detail.
These figures describe journeys through the airport, not the number of distinct visitors to Marrakech, and they should not be read as proof that any expansion project has opened. They do, however, document the sustained pressure on the city's principal international gateway as another winter flying season begins.
