Marrakech to Receive 15 Hyundai Electric Buses for Tourist Routes
Marrakech is due to receive 15 Hyundai Elec City electric buses in the first quarter of 2027, with the vehicles planned for city routes serving major tourist areas.
Hyundai Motor Company and the Korea International Cooperation Agency, known as KOICA, announced the project on September 22, 2026. The first two completed buses were presented at Hyundai’s Jeonju plant in South Korea on September 21.
What the project includes
KOICA will also provide fast chargers and related equipment, along with local training and technical cooperation for operation and maintenance. Hyundai said the remaining 13 buses will be completed and shipped before a handover event in Marrakech.
The project forms part of a Korean official development assistance program with Marrakech. Hyundai describes the delivery as the first supply of Korean produced electric buses to Morocco.
What visitors should know
The announcement confirms that the buses are intended for urban routes serving major tourist areas, but it does not yet identify specific routes, stops, fares or a passenger service launch date. Those practical details will need to come from Marrakech authorities closer to deployment.
