El Fenn Launches Sol Sundays, a New Marrakech Rooftop DJ Residency

El Fenn is adding a new recurring Sunday night to Marrakech’s autumn calendar. From October 11, the Medina hotel will host Sol Sundays, an every-other-Sunday rooftop music residency led by Marrakech DJ Shems.

The series is scheduled for October 11 and 25, November 8 and 22, and December 6. Each session runs from 17:00 to 22:00, covering the transition from late afternoon and sunset into the evening.

300 MAD includes a signature El Fenn cocktail

El Fenn has set the entry price at 300 MAD. A signature El Fenn cocktail is included in the ticket price. Tickets are already being sold directly through the hotel’s official Sol Sundays page.

For visitors who know El Fenn mainly as a hotel, restaurant or rooftop stop, this is a more structured music programme than a normal evening DJ set. The property is presenting Shems as its resident DJ for the series rather than announcing a different headline act each week.

Who is Shems?

Shems grew up between London and Marrakech and began mixing records as a teenager. After playing intimate parties in the United Kingdom and venues in Playa del Carmen, he returned to Marrakech and founded Elektrokesh, a local music project that brings together Moroccan and international DJs.

El Fenn describes his sound as deliberately open rather than tied to one genre, with groove and funk forming a strong part of the selection.

Why this is useful for Marrakech visitors

Sunday evenings in Marrakech do not always have the same obvious event calendar as Friday and Saturday nights. Sol Sundays gives visitors a recurring, bookable rooftop option with fixed dates, a published price and a clear start and finish time.

The rooftop also overlooks the Medina with the Atlas Mountains visible beyond on clear evenings, so arriving close to the 17:00 opening time makes more sense than treating this as a late-night club event.

El Fenn is located at Derb Moulay Abdullah Ben Hezzian, Bab El Ksour, inside the Marrakech Medina. Visitors should allow extra walking time for the final approach because the property sits within the old city.
